This is a STEMs initiative focusing on addressing Australia’s shortage of scientists and engineers. Challenges include; dog-fighting balsa model
propeller powered planes; bottle rockets’ distance travelled, maximum velocity attained, precision firing & overall aesthetics.
Students compete in teams of four to design, produce, test & evaluate their prototypes. Teams are required to justify their design & engineering decisions verbally to the judging panel, teams will be required to compete in a regional hub or semi between two or three schools in their region.
This competition is an ideal opportunity for schools, students, teachers, community and local industry to engage in practical numeracy and literacy activities in a fun and innovative engaging environment.
